Train enthusiasts can spend a day exploring the rails at the Museum of Science's suite of train-themed attractions this winter.

For the second year in a row, the Museum’s temporary model train exhibit, All Aboard! Trains at Science Park, makes its return alongside a variety of other attractions through Jan. 7.

The seasonal tradition features classic winter landscapes, miniature trains, snow-covered peaks, hands-on activities, and more. Visitors will experience multiple model train layouts, including tables where kids of all ages can lay wooden tracks and explore trains hands-on, a mountain village, a village trolley display, and a Boston train layout featuring local landmarks.

The exhibit also features a custom-made 11’ 6”-long model of the Museum of Science.

In addition, visitors can consult with expert train model makers, who will be on-site on select days to care for the model train displays and answer questions.

Younger children will enjoy the Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails exhibit, a family-friendly adventure for ages 2 to 7, that's at the museum through Jan. 12.  Kids can experience helping Thomas and his friends to solve a variety of challenges, combining play opportunities and STEM concepts.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore and experience trains through a variety of exhibits and films.

In the 4-D Theater, guests can experience The Polar Express 4-D Experience,  and Thomas & Friends 4-D: Bubbling Boilers. In the OMNI Theater, the popular Rocky Mountain Express is playing on the giant screen.
