Kick off the summer at the 7th Annual WGBY Asparagus Festival, taking place on the Hadley Town Common on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A celebration of all things local, this outdoor, family-friendly event features live music all day, a large farmers/makers’ market, and fresh food and craft beers from around the Pioneer Valley. Peruse nearly 150 different vendors, enjoy cooking demos, food displays, and plenty of fun for all ages.

While adults may enjoy the farmers/makers' market, the Beers & Spears Tent, or the Chef's Spearit Lunch, children will have plenty to do on the Hadley Town Common, too:

  • PBS Kids character Curious George and The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be on hand for meet-n-greets with children.
  • Outdoor games including the Valley Asparagus Pick and Valley Scramble, an agricultural-themed spinoff of PBS Kids spelling game Kart Kingdom.
  • Watch experts quickly bunch asparagus.
  • WGBY’s “Rooted in the Valley” stage will feature family-friendly entertainment.

The event is free, with a suggested donation of $5/person (or $20 per family). It will be held rain or shine.
