The Hanover Theatre will put on a relaxed performance of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol on Sunday, Dec. 22.
The two-hour performance, appropriate for all ages, is a specially adapted show, modified for adults and children who might benefit from a more relaxed environment. The unique theatre experience is geared toward individuals with autism or other sensitivities, allowing families to attend a production free of stress or self-consciousness.
Some of the more startling moments of the show have been softened for this special performance. Other accommodations include dimmed house lights, and sounds lowered in volume and intensity. Accommodations of support will be provided, including a quiet area for individuals and families that need a break from the experience where staff and volunteers can assist patrons’ needs.
Attendees can come early to experience a tactile tour of props from the set. This extra sensory opportunity is designed especially for vision impaired and other curious patrons to more enjoy the show.
Tickets for kids are 50 percent off. Tickets and more information is available here.
