Come out and play!
The 8th annual Day of Play Family Festival Saturday, June 15 at Elm Park in Worcester will feature over 50 activities and performances. The event is free and designed for children 3 to 10 years old and their families.
Attendees can enjoy live performances, active play (including Yoga for Families and Hula Hopping), construction play (such as Tool Town and Construction Junction), creative arts play, health and wellness play, reading play (including storytelling), and STEM play.
Live performances include a magic show, marching band, visits from critters like giant tortoises, frogs and lizards, and more.
A project of Edward Street Child Services, the event seeks to reintroduce to families the joy of playing with their children. The goal is to engage families fun interactive activities, while spreading the word about the importance of playful learning at home. Science shows that children develop imagination, critical thinking skills and crucial problem solving skills through play, yet over the past two decades, young children's playtime is vanishing.
Over 5,000 people are expected at this year's event, which runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
