Editor's note: “Did you hear that?” I asked... Those were the words area second-, third- and fourth-graders were asked to use to start a ghost story of their own design. This story came from Clinton Elementary School, grade 2. Enjoy.

... I see a scarecrow chasing me at my house. He sees me and gets in my house, chasing me into the foggy forest. I see four more scarecrows. They start to chase me to the town hall. They stole Mr. Baily. He turned into a scarecrow. Then 10 more scarecrows came and trapped me in the town hall. They followed me everywhere I went. They heard a creak in the shower room then they found me and they tried to get me, but the shower melted all the scarecrows.
