SHREWSBURY - Drivers on the Route 140 bridge over I-290 in Shrewsbury, near the Boylston line, are expected to see three to four weeks of driving detours.

The project began Sept. 8. During the work, Route 140 over I-290 will be shut down, and Route 140 southbound will be detoured to Main Street in Shrewsbury and then back onto I-290 westbound and directed off at the route 140 southbound off-ramp. Route 140 northbound will be detoured to Church Street in Northboro and then directed onto I-290 westbound, where they will be directed off at the Route 140 northbound off-ramp.

These shutdowns will occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. According to officials, on some nights, I-290 will be detoured around the bridge by using the outside ramps and some newly-created roadway sections. The I-290 detours will only happen between midnight and 4 a.m.
