The musical "A Night With Janis Joplin" promises to take a piece of your heart as it celebrates Janis Joplin and influences such as  Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith. Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 with an unmistakable voice filled with raw emotion. The comet burned quickly, but "A Night With Janis Joplin," which ran on Broadway before going on tour, is like a rock concert with Joplin center stage. Tony Award nominee Mary Bridget Davies will play Joplin for the evening performance; Francesca Ferrari has the role in the matinee.
