ANNE MEISNER:
Not Just Surviving But Thriving One Year Later
baystateparent is so very proud to update you on the progress our 2008 Think Pink cover model, Anne Meisner, age 31, of Natick has made.
Anne continues to show no evidence of breast cancer and remains very active with her children, Jeffrey, age 5, and Collin, age 2 ½, and with the children she cares for (Anne started a daycare business last year). In between, Anne gets to the gym occasionally and loves to do yoga.
Catching up with Anne
1. How has your life changed since you fought breast cancer? I do live my life more in the present. I am more actively involved with a local organization called The Ellie Fund. It helps local women and their families going through breast cancer treatment focus on getting healthy and reducing the stress of everyday life. (elliefund.org)
2. What has breast cancer taught you? To try and live in the moment. The only thing we really have is the right now. It's hard not to worry about the future and what it might hold. I need to embrace each moment with the people I love.
3. What are your feelings about October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month? I have mixed feelings about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On one hand, I think that it is wonderful that this disease and the resources out there and advancements made are spotlighted. On the other hand, it brings it all back to the forefront of my mind...every step I took battling this disease. For me, I try and make the awareness last all year and spread as much news about advancements to people who want to know. I also volunteer my time for The Ellie Fund on a regular basis.
4. Best Massachusetts resources for women fighting breast cancer: The Ellie Fund (of course!), PACT (Parenting At Challenging Times), Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC. org - national)
