LETTERSTOTHEEDITOR

Dear Bay State Parent,

I would like to find out where I can get a copy of the August issue in Peabody. I have been to several stores and libraries that you list as having your magazine, and I can't find it anywhere. Also, I am on the board of the North Shore Mother's of Multiples and would like to get about 50 copies for our members this month. The article on Should Twins be Separated in School? is very relevant to our club. Where could I pick up that many copies? Thanks!

Rachel

Dear Bay State Parent,

I was disappointed in the back to school fashion article in the August issue. While some parents may need ideas on how to dress their children for school, I don't need to be told jeans are in. That's all my kids wear. I, and I'm guessing many other Central Massachusetts moms, would have appreciated an article on how to buy a backto school wardrobe for a teen under $200. Perhaps, next year?

Sandy Brown

Dear Bay State Parent,

I was looking for the article on science supplement to schools. I can't remember much other than that. If you could let me know who I could get in contact with or email the article so I may get in touch with them. Thanks.

Jodie Chapdelaine

Editor's Note: The article ran in the Backto School August issue. I have e-mailed you a copy.

Dear Bay State Parent,

Please put the price of the clothes when you make recommendations in the magazine. I wouldn't have made the drive to one of the stores if I would have known the cost of the jacket before hand. It was a waste of my time and a waste of my gas at almost $3 a gallon.

Dear Bay State Parent,

I am speechless! Your October cover literally made my eyes well up with tears. What a beautiful and poignant message it communicates. And how wonderful of Bay State Parent to recognize breast cancer month in this way, with so much editorial focused on the subject with your Think Pink section. My mother is an 18-year survivor of breast cancer, and I can't think of a single woman whose life has not been affected by this disease, whether a relative or friend or co-worker... Bravo!

Heidi Hynes, Ayer

Dear Bay State Parent,

This issue (September) was my favorite! Thanks for recognizing that moms have dreams too! I read the article on the suburban rocker moms and the mom who wrote songs for Faith Hill word for word. I couldn't put the issue down!

I picked up your magazine for the first time about two years ago struggling to find things to do with my toddler, but I search for a copy each month (sometimes you are hard to find) because of the exceptional articles. Please continue to provide less fluff and more of the original, intellectual thoughts, like those in this issue. It is what sets you apart and the reason why I pass over the other parenting magazines at my local library!

If I could make one suggestion, I remember reading in past issues articles on mom only ideas, like gyms with babysitting services, clubs for moms, etc. I'd love to see something like this every month. Please consider that as you put together future issues!

Jennifer Rosen

Dear Bay State Parent,

You (Dr. Kerri Augusto, October issue) summed up my thoughts on play dates perfectly! You wrote exactly what I feel every time I hear someone suggest a dreaded play date!

Jess Holt

Dear Bay State Parent,

What an incredible issue! I was so impressed with the Think Pink section (October), and as I read page after page of it each article encouraged me to live each day to its fullest. I started reading your magazine looking for fun things to do with my children, now that they are older I continue to come back month after month because of the intelligent, thought-provoking articles and fabulous sections like Think Pink.

Jules Tierney

Dear Bay State Parent,

I was overjoyed reading the personal and emotional tales from women all over Massachusetts facing breast cancer. It was so refreshing to see a magazine recognizing the struggles these women face and offering not just gloom and doom, but uplifting tales.

I also applaud the editor for recognizing that although your readers are parents, we are women first!

I truly appreciate the fact that each month the magazine provides great ideas and articles on parenting, but also can't miss stories for moms. As a working mother, I love your new feature devoted to us juggling both career and family. I hope you expand that section!

And way to go Kerri Augusto (Pondering Parenting columnist) for a right-on-the-mark commentary on play dates. I'm not a fan either!

CeCe Myers

Dear Bay State Parent,

Dr. Robyn's article (October, Parenting 1-2- 3) this month made me cry. It brought back all the terrible nicknames I was called as a child and reminds me that although years go by sadly kids are still very cruel and sometimes it is how we look and not who we are inside that is judged. I hope parents teach their children that it is not nice to say things to other children because they may not look like them. I tell my son that all the time. Sadly, he is still picked on, bullied, and called names by some of his school classmates.
