LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Bay State Parent,

Hello. I will be moving to Western Massachusetts this summer surrounding the Springfield area. Can you recommend any distributors like your company covering those counties who may offer community resources?

Jackie Toledo-Barrera, Worcester

Editor's Note: I am unaware of a parenting magazine in Western Massachusetts. You can always subscribe to Bay State Parent and/or still view us online at www.baystateparent.com We do cover the entire state within the calendar, and list events all offer Massachusetts.

Dear Bay State Parent,

I love getting this and reading this but I have one issue. I live on the Newton-Needham border and everywhere I go to get a copy, the version is meant for Worcester County and towns that I would never drive to. It is a waste because all of the classes, activities, etc are an hour away and I can't see what is available for me locally. Don't you have a Boston version that includes the suburbs near here? I would think the advertisers would want their ads to be advertised where people could take advantage. Hope this made sense.

Dear Bay State Parent,

I work for Marlboro Early Intervention. I would like to distribute this magazine to parents whom attend our parent groups. We have run 10 parent-child groups and at 12 families per group would like to receive about 100 magazines monthly. Is this possible?

Pat Beucler

Editor's Note: Thanks for your interest in being a distributor of Bay State Parent magazine. I have forwarded your request to circulation@baystateparent.com Any business or organization interested in being a distributor can e-mail a request to that e-mail.

Dear Bay State Parent,

I debated about writing this letter, but the more I thought about it the more I was offended by the coming of age pages in this month's issue (March). A bat mitzvah is a religious ceremony and one me and my family take seriously. Obviously, you and your magazine does not. In a bar mitzvah, a boy agrees to become an adult in the Jewish faith. It is not a game, as you had the children doing while wearing suits and dresses. If your magazine wants to do features on fashion trends fine; but you should have seriously thought about playing games with a religious ceremony.

Dear Bay State Parent,

With all the celebrity news of Brittany (and her sister), Lindsay, and Paris partying in their short, short skirts, getting drunk, getting pregnant, not taking care of their kids; I would have thought a parenting magazine would have been more sensitive and not dressed girls in outfits that barely covered their butts (just like those celebrities). Shame on you! What were you thinking?

I usually enjoy your magazine. We have gone on some of the day trips you have recommended. We loved geocaching. (We) never would have known about it without reading it in your magazine. We have attended a show and a couple of events based on a recommendation from the calendar. I love your parenting columnists and the feature articles. Please continue to give me this stuff and leave the short skirts for the tabloids and those out-ofcontrol celebrities!

Dear Bay State Parent,

Our family was featured in an article by Jamie Bosso on Ethiopian adoption. Of course, I want to get some copies of the magazine!

Alison Noyce

Dear Bay State Parent,

I am a teacher and parent involved in Saint Joseph School in Webster. I was wondering if you have ever done a theme issue on Catholic schools and if you haven't than would you consider it. I know I would have appreciated an issue dealing with the choice of private Catholic education versus public and a few articles highlighting various area schools when I was searching.

I would love to be involved in such an issue and of course highlight our school as one choice for parents of young children. We offer programs for Pre-K through grade 8, with full day offerings in PreK and K, and a daily after school program for all. Thanks so much for your time, consideration. and response to this inquiry.

Susan Micciche

Editor's Note: That is a good suggestion. Bay State Parent magazine publishes a Private Education Guide in January and a Back-to- School guide in August. We have published an article on religious education and one article on religious summer camps, which highlighted a few religions not just Catholicism. I know there is a National Catholic Education Week; perhaps we could tie something into that or perhaps publish a specific Catholic Schools Guide. Thanks for e-mailing.

CORRECTION: In the April issue, Patrick Skerrett's name was misidentified and misspelled. Skerrett was one of the three author's of The Fertility Diet book.
