CLINTON - The Matchstick Market grand opening will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will kick off the new, weekly plant-based farmers and artisans market.

The Matchstick Market will be located at 55 Sterling St. or Hamilton Square Park (as weather permits) in Clinton and will be held year-round. The market is the first of many initiatives coming from Three Match Creations, a new community-based creative work space also located at 55 Sterling St., whose opening day will coincide with the market’s grand opening.

“Our hope is to cultivate an empowering space that is family-friendly, supportive of our local economy, and gives artists and entrepreneurs a platform to positively contribute to our community,” said Nicole Melone, Matchstick Market manager.

Melone is a resident visionary at Three Match Creations. She is a Clinton native and has been responsible for other local events in the town, such as Apatite Collective’s markets, as well as co-founding the Maybarton Community Garden.

The Matchstick Market is setting out to support the local food producers in the community and increase the accessibility of fresh, local produce and handmade products in the central Massachusetts community. A high-quality selection of local farms, artisans and makers who prioritize sustainability, environmentalism and ethics as a part of their business model will make up the weekly vendors. Fresh produce, fresh-cut flowers, herbs, locally-made foods and products, ready-to-eat foods, art, live music, community groups, family-friendly activities, workshops, and more are lined up throughout the year. In an effort to remain accessible for all, they’ll be partnering with farms that accept SNAP, WIC, HIP, Senior Coupons, and other government subsidy programs.

Sponsorships are available. For information on the Matchstick Market or available sponsorship options, contact Melone at nicoledmelone@gmail.com.
