Frequently Asked Questions
- Why choose NGCC over other day care centers?
- Next Generation Children’s Centers is a family owned and run company that is proud of it’s commitment to local families in our care. We constantly strive to be a leader in our field with curriculum that integrates top early childhood philosophies and teaching methodology including Piaget, Montessori and Reggio Emilia. Continuous curriculum development and constant reinvestment in our equipment keeps our classrooms fresh and engaging for children. Our innovative school design with covered outdoor play spaces, indoor play spaces, heated floors in infant rooms, art rooms are designed with safety, supervision and the needs of children in mind.
- What will my child do in a typical day?
- For children in our Infant Program, their days are centered around their individual feeding and sleeping schedule. In our Toddler through Kindergarten rooms, while each program have their own developmentally appropriate activities within the classrooms, each child will have the following experiences during the school day:
- Two outdoor (weather permitting) or indoor play/ gross motor activity time.
- Early morning and late afternoon "open play" time with friends, choosing from different learning centers in the classroom.
- A variety of "Circle Time" group sessions during the day.
- Several "Small Group" activity times with teachers dividing the class between them to focus on curriculum activities.
- Meals include breakfast (for children arriving before 8:30 AM), morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and late afternoon snack (after 5:15PM).
- Enrichment programs during the week including:
- Music Session - Our own Music Specialists visit with ALL of the children within the school weekly to expose children to a wide variety of music and musical instruments. This appreciation for music will assist children in their language and self-expression skills as well as an opportunity to move and play!
- Fun and Fit - Twice a week, Toddlers through Kindergarten will utilize our indoor gym spaces and equipment for age-appropriate fitness activities such as Yoga, aerobics and obstacle courses. The activities chosen for this program align with Massachusetts' Curriculum Frameworks and The National Association for Sports and Physical Education (NASPE).
- Spanish - ¡Vamos! is our weekly Spanish program for our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Our own Spanish instructors work in small groups with the students to introduce Spanish and the lessons align with our weekly curriculum themes.
- What kind of things will my child learn
- While each age group will have developmentally appropriate activities planned as a part of their day, our curriculum has common topics between the different programs: Math, science, exposure to literature (and later writing), open-ended art, music, dramatic play and gross motor activities. The children have their classroom to explore plus our indoor play spaces as well as the outdoor playgrounds - all providing plenty of room to run or find a place of their own.
Our curriculum goes beyond just academic topics to include a social development aspect as well. Each age group builds on concepts of:- self (my body, all about me)
- health and well-being (tooth brushing, eating healthy, exercise)
- getting along with friends (conflict resolution, sharing, respect for others)
- family (all different types)
- and learning about the world around them (cultural appreciation)
- What are the different ways that I can stay in touch?
- Research shows that the children who are most successful in school are those whose families are informed and involved in their education. At Next Generation, we are committed to strengthening the home-school connection. You are always welcome in the classroom.
- Daily Informational Note detailing the classroom's learning experiences and activities. It is a Weekly Group Note for our Kindergarten program, updated daily for parents to read and then sent home at the end of the week.
