baystateparent. bsp. That's what you call us.
But our long-time clients and readers sometimes refer to us as Today's Parent.
That was our original name when our parenting publication debuted on May 1, 1996 out of Oxford, Massachusetts. Started by a Central Mass mom of two, Kelley Small envisioned a special publication that would be a resource for the parents of Worcester County.
After six years of many exciting “firsts,” baystateparent celebrated another milestone in July 2002: expansion. Under the leadership of new owner and publisher, Kirk Davis, an industry executive and Metro West dad of two, baystateparent began to stretch its boundaries into MetroWest and beyond.
In June 2004, Today's Parent officially changed its name to baystateparent to reflect this wonderful region in which we raise our children: The Bay State.
Today, baystateparent is distributed FREE of charge in over 1,000 locations across more than 200 communities across Massachusetts. We reach about 100,000 parents through our print and Online publication.
Through the years, baystateparent has stayed true to its family origins. Founded and designed by moms, baystateparent is still family-owned by Kirk and his wife, Laurie. baystateparent is a proud sister of five Holden Landmark Corporation publications: Worcester Mag, The Landmark, The Millbury Sutton Chronicle, The Community Journal and The Leominster Champion.
baystateparent continues to evolve in its role as one of the most celebrated regional parenting publication in the country. From Today's Parent to baystateparent, thank you for being there with us through the years!
