HARD COPY Please provide a hard copy proof of your ad for comparison to your electronic files. SIZING All ad sizes (electronic or hard copy) must match the sizes booked. RESOLUTIONS Halftone Line Screen: 85 lpi Photo Resolution: 200 dpi Line Art Resolution: 600 dpi COLOR All spot colors must be built in cyan (unless otherwise noted), while all four-color ads must be built in cmyk. PLATFORM All ads are processed on the MacIntosh platform. ACCEPTED FILE TYPES PDF Must be created with Adobe AcrobatDistiller. PDFs created with Adobe PDF Writer or Adobe Photoshop are not useable. Fonts must be embedded. Color components must be converted to CMYK values. Color ads must be complete files - not multi-plate separations. QuarkXPress (QXD) Must be saved as version 4.01 or lower. Quark files and associated files – graphics and fonts - should be submitted via disk. Image files must be included - use Collect for Output function. Document setup dimensions should match size booked. Unused colors should be deleted. Remaining colors should be process separated. Screen and printer (PostScript) fonts must be included. Fonts should not be artificially "styled" bold, italic, etc. Please use the actual fonts with the desired styles. QuarkXPress files created on PCs should be submitted as PDF files due to incompatibility of font files between PC and Mac. EPS/JPG/TIF/PSD/AI Should be created with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe Acrobat. Resolution: Color/Grayscale - 170dpi, Line art - 600dpi JPEG & TIF files from digital cameras are acceptable. Text in Illustrator files must be converted to outlines. Color files should be in CMYK mode or use CMYK values. MICROSOFT WORD (DOC) Accepted for text only. Complete ads cannot be used and will be recreated in Quark. HOW TO SEND CAMERA-READY ADS FILES SENT ON DISC 100 MB Zip Disk, CD-R, DVD-ROM. Printed proof of ad must be submitted with disk – laser print of grayscale ads (color matchprint for color ads.) Please include a list of files included on disk. FILES SENT VIA E-MAIL Files bigger than 2 MB should be compressed before sending – Stuffit (.sit), Zip (.zip) and Self-Extracting Archives (.sea) are acceptable. Please fax a hard copy to 508-829-4195, ATTN: Sales Rep’s name. A low-resolution JPEG (.jpg) or screen-optimized PDF file is another option for proofing purposes. If you’re sending a file larger than 2 MB (per e-mail), please send files in separate e-mails or consider making arrangements to send them on a disk.
